Frequently Asked Questions
What are the specific things that you look for when people bring in their clothes to sell?
When we buy, we look at a couple of factors: First, the clothing has to be in good condition. We don't want items that are too faded or too worn, we are looking for gently used merchandise that has plenty of life left in it. Then we look at the label -- a label is pretty important, because it factors into our pricing. Obviously, merchandise from name brands like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie command a higher price than something from Forever 21. But, there is plenty of room for brand diversity in terms of merchandise. We also bring in new merchandise and vintage items if they work with the current trends.
How does your buying process work?
Obviously, we want to be discriminating as there has to be a balance of clothing coming in and going out. We want our inventory to look good, so our customers will trade with us and use their credit as a way of shopping with us. Our purchasing process means we have a constantly rotating inventory which makes each event exciting and unique.
When taking items in, we estimate what we can sell the item for and they get 30 percent back in cash, or 50 percent in store credit. Our inventory plays a big role in what we are buying at any given time, so just because we don't buy something at one event does not mean we won't buy it at another event. As we all know timing is everything.
